{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: National Signing Day fly

That would likely work for a Sulphur hatch.

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: New species for me on the fly

Way to go.  I fish the marshes of SC for Reds and see a fair number of Sheep.  Most are tailing and I've had a few actually move towards my fly in a manner that they may eat it to only turn their noses up at the last moment.
I "caught" one this year, I was pursuing a red in the grass that disappeared on me.  I flipped my fly line off to my left so I'd have a water haul when the red reappeared.  While  looking for the red, my line started feeding out of my red.  I thought the red had picked up the fly so I set the hook.  After about 5 minutes of fighting a nice red, I see the stripes of a 6lb sheep.  He had swum through my line and I foul hooked him in the pectoral fin.  Given the weed guard I use, I was surprised that I foul hooked him.

If you don't mind, what did you fly look like.
Thanks,

John

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} National Signing Day fly

This morning I was inspired by my Tennessee Vols recruiting prospects and decided to tie a fly to honor all emerging athletes signing up for Rocky Top today. Go Big Orange.

I give you, the #GBO emerger

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Water Temps in Shenandoah

Good morning,

Does anyone have a recommended source to determine a relatively accurate water temperature for some standard Shenandoah mountain streams? I can find the water flow data fine, but seem to have trouble identifying actual temperatures. Perhaps I'm just not looking close enough.

A warmer rain like today's followed by a few 50 degree days should surely have the temps in the 37-40 degree range by week end, right? Even with the snow melt?

Thanks!

Forrest
