{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Micro-nymphing question

I'm considering investing in some size 28 nymphs. Will 7x tippet be small enough, or will I need to go to 8x? I was thinking of fishing a 6x leader, tying some 7x on the end, and putting a few small split shots on the 6x part, so I don't snap the 7x. Sound like a good plan?

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: New species for me on the fly

Awesome fish. What'd he take?

I'd love to give a shot at them in VA waters but would not know where to start. Some guys using bait get into some bruisers around the CBBT.

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: New species for me on the fly

Sweetness. I've heard they're darn near impossible to get on the fly. The folks in Jax have their best luck with them when they're tailing in the grass.

Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Davala Sighting

I had a sighting just while I was still in a stupor recovering from my CI exam.  From what I recall, the bearded one mentioned something about travels to Cuba.  If Dan starts wearing fatigues and smoking cigars, we won't be able to recognize him.

What a great weekend with Dan. Though based on Melody's picture I think those boys are follically challenged, I'd exped to at least have a 'stache on both by now. I plan on a podcasting with Dan soon and we can find out all about his recent travels and adventures. Podcast on the show should be up soon.

I'd have stayed up with Dan in the lobby with libations until sunrise if I hadn't had to be at the show at 0830 yesterday.

I have found the rare bearded Davala (no relation to the dragon or bivalve) from the north woods. He is at a watering hole in Jersey consuming fermented hops.
