{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Tidal Rappahannock Fising September/October

Hello all,

I've been lurking on the boards for sometime and cannot express how much this group has improved my life in DC and opening my eyes to so much amazing local fishing that I never knew existed.

I'm going to be near White Stone, VA on the Rappahannock at the end of December and was hoping to do some fishing. I will have access definitely to a kayak and maybe a small center console boat. Does anyone have any experience fishing this area> What can I expect this time of year and where should I go?

Thanks Nick. I have had several great trips to the San Juan and have been tempted to bounce up to the Animas. Like you said, its tough to divert from the San Juan because the fish are plentiful and huge. I have had great luck on the San Juan swinging big streamers when the surface activity slows.

Charlie,

There is a lot of good fishing around Durango, CO, to include the Animas. Buck, Tom and the rest of the guys at Duranglers can help you with stream levels and related info. Sept and Oct are great months to pull some big browns out of the Animas with nymph rigs, although many folks throw streamers year-round. The Ute section can be very productive for DIY if you're willing to pick up the extra license (~$17). Are you roll casting out there? I've never fished there but I seem to remember it being fairy deep in parts right by the outfall. Also, are you having your best luck on the North or South bank? Thanks for sharing this ---

It has been a weekend of chasing bass. My location of choice was 4 Mile Run from the water treatment down to the small cut. I tossed medium and small blue poppers along the shore down one side and up the other. I was pleasantly surprised at how close to the shore some very large bass were hiding is really skinny water. In the three days, I have caught around 50 or so bass. Gotta hit the run again before the weekend ends.

Hello TPFRs!

If you attended the last BEER TIE, you heard of speak about the upcoming 2Fly4Hope Fishing Challenge that serves as are biggest fundraiser of the year. I originally opened up the registration to those who have fished previously and am not ready to open it up to the masses. With that, there are only three fishing spots left.
