Hi all,

I have a buddy coming into town from Florida next week. We're meeting up in Front Royal. We have canoes and kayaks available to float (say, Karo to Front Royal), but I'm also intrigued about the possibility of fishing the State Park via a walk and wade. My buddy and I floated Karo to Front Royal a couple of,e of years ago. We both did well once we figured a few things out, but fishing new water is always fun. If you had to pick, which stretch would you choose? Or is there another stretch nearby that you'd consider? (I'm day tripping from Bethesda if it helps.)

Any insight is appreciated,

The Downriver Canoe Company's Burner's Bottom float is a good all-day fishing trip.  They can shuttle you if you have your own kayaks.

Good luck if you get out there fellas.

Although they are a bit dated, althea local Steve Moore local wading books are good resources.

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Bass population?

I was out in my kayak at royal lake and caught a few nice bass in the mist/rain on sunday, top water especially fun.

I caught 10-15 small (6-8"") bass as well, which seemed to indicate that the population of young fish was healthier than previous years at least in that one place.

Anyone seen a corollary trend other places?

Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} BEER TIE - Monday 9 June

I plan to teach worms and hoppers tomorrow. Maybe poppers.

The 16oz Stellafish were taking size 4 poppers today at the Tidal Basin with Chesapeake Women's anglers. There was no catch and release. This one will be a river charm to someone at beer tie. It's a bit dented as I lost a big bass and the can fell out of my bag while I cursed and kicked rocks. That wild easily have been the largest bass I'd land this year or next.

Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} 2022 Garmin Instinct Solar Tactical

I've only heard bad things about this model.

Also this belongs on the by sell trade forum, not on the fishing forum.

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Casting for Sunday, 8 June - Tentative

Well, Fletcher's Cove fields were covered up in timber from the flood. I am not sure if all that timber has been removed.  So tentatively planned for casting on Sunday 8 June.

I won't be there, on travel.

The final report of 2025 covers the only 2 days in May when shad fishing was great; plus, flood damage at Fletcher's Cove.
