Getting away from the mass of crowds, to the extent that I can, is definitely a goal for me. And if fishing is an option, so much the better!

So, here's my question:

I've been trying to learn tenkara fishing, and it sounds like fish at Constitution Gardens pond might be a good target for me?

Why tenkara? Because I can pack the rod and gear on my carry-on bag instead of my bigger fly rod tube and assorted gear.

Why Constitution Gardens? Because it's a close walk from the office I'll be meeting at just north of the Mall.

So, any advice or feedback is welcome! Especially if I should walk a little further to the Tidal Basin, or the Potomac, or just take an entirely different course of action.

Thanks!

Last time I walked by Constitution Gardens, (it's been a few years)  I suspected only a few sunfish might be surviving the low and tepid water.

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Fwd: Support conservation and recreation tomorrow during Spring2ACTion!

Good day TPFR Chapter Members and forum subscribers,

TPFR encourages support for the following project: If you fish, kayak, or enjoy walks along Four Mile Run, please donate to this year's fundraising effort.

Funds are needed to finish the kayak launch project and sustain their public programs and opportunities for local youth. Every little bit helps.

Thank you in advance for your support.
Daniel

Dear Daniel,

Tomorrow isSpring2ACTion 2025 logo color.pngAlexandria's Spring2ACTion giving day, an opportunity to support the work of local nonprofit organizations, including the Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation. This year our funding need is to finish the kayak launch project while sustaining our public programs and opportunities for local youth.

We broke ground in early March to build a public ADA-accessible launch in Four Mile Run Park. It is a stretch for our budget, so we appreciate your support.

And we are pleased to share that a donor is offering to match up to $1,000 dollar-for-dollar toward our Spring2ACTion campaign, so your support counts double!

Thanks for considering, and we hope to see you out at Four Mile Run.

Sincerely,

Kurt Moser

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Casting for Sunday, 13 April (2nd Sunday of the month)

Shad season is in full swing (spey casting, inside joke :) )

We will have our casting get together on Sunday, 13 Apr at Fletcher's Cove from 8am to 11am.

Come on out, whether you are a novice, intermediate, or advanced caster, it is all fun to work on solving casting problems and casting challenges.

Additionally, we will work on FFI Casting Skills challenges for anyone interested.

If you are just getting started, this is a great way to meet people who can help.  There will be casting instructors on hand.

See you there,

Regan
