I've fished a bit south of there (Isle of Hope, GA) on a flood tide with plenty of shots and plenty of bites, but fewer fish to hand than you. I'll blame it on excessive number of Wet Willie's slushies that I drank on the street the day before.

Thanks for the info, trying to put together pieces in my own fishing and scope out other areas for future trips.

Hi Bill:

I'm no expert, but two things I've read about and observed seem to be true regarding conditions:

1. They like a moving tide. Slack tides seem to shut off the bite.

2. They don't like wind that ripples the surface. That seemed to shut them off as well. In coves where we had caught fish, if the wind was moving the water they wouldn't bite. So we'd move to coves out of the wind and we'd catch fish there.

That's a good looking fish. Congrats! Have you found that tides , times of day or other conditions make a difference? I've caught fish on incoming tides late in the afternoon. I'm looking forward to a few more trips this winter.

Important policy changes for Google Account storage

Dear Google User,

We are writing to let you know that we recently announced new storage policies for Google Accounts using Gmail, Google Drive (including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms, and Jamboard files) and/or Google Photos that bring us in line with industry practices. Since you have previously used one or more of these products in your Google Account storage, we wanted to tell you about the new policies well before they go into effect on June 1, 2021. Below is a summary of the new policies. Please reference our Help Center article for a complete list of what's changing.

Summary of the new policies (effective June 1, 2021):

If you're inactive for 2 years (24 months) in Gmail, Drive or Photos, we may delete the content in the product(s) in which you're inactive. Google One members who are within their storage quota and in good-standing will not be impacted by this new inactive policy.

•

If you exceed your storage limit for 2 years, we may delete your content across Gmail, Drive and Photos.

What this means for you:

•

You won't be impacted by these changes unless you've been inactive or over your storage limit for 2 years. As this policy goes into effect June 1, 2021, the earliest it would be enforced is June 1, 2023.

•

After June 1, 2021, if you are either inactive or over your storage limit, we will send you email reminders and notifications in advance and prior to deleting any content.

•

Even if you are either inactive or over your storage limit for one or more of these services and content is deleted, you will still be able to sign in.

•

Note: The inactivity and over quota storage policies will apply only to consumer users of Google services. Google Workspace, G Suite for Education and G Suite for Nonprofits policies are not changing at this time, and admins should look to the Admin Help center for storage policies related to their subscriptions.

I have very limited experience tying cork bugs/poppers. Corks from champagne/prosecco bottles seem to work well.

I had success using a dremel on artificial corks from cheap Trader Joe's wine, natural cork works too, but is more likely to split--had some old woodglue that helped. Sandpaper is fine too if your not doing much shaping, all i did was make a concave front though so nothing fancy..

In my experience, the quality of wine corks varies greatly. Many are too crumbly to be decent fly material, or have inconvenient voids. So cork selection is the most important step.

After that, you need the tools to shape the cork. I have seen folks improvise a lathe from a power drill or rotary tool to get a round shape. If you're headed to District Angling, you can stop by Cherrydale Hardware to see if they have Dragon Skin or something similar for rough shaping.

Another way to do it with slices of cork, a la the Gerbubble Bug (google 'cork Gerbubble Bug').
