Hey All,
-- I'm planning on heading up to the Salmon River the weekend of July 7th and 8th to fish for Atlantic Salmon. There is a run of landlocked Atlantic Salmon which starts in the late spring /early summer and go into the fall. However when Pacific Salmon and Steelhead show up in the fall, the Atlantic get lost in shuffle .
Also Atlantic Salmon run is smaller in numbers of fish compared to amount of Pacific Salmon & Steelhead . Five to seven pound Atlantic Salmon are caught on a regular basis, and Atlantics have caught up to 20 pounds .
There is a dam release scheduled for that weekend that's why I chose the weekend of July 7th and 8th .The dam release will make the Atlantic Salmon witch are already in the River more active and should also draw some more fish from the lake. The release will actually start on Thursday night and I'll be slowly ramped up to full capacity for the weekend. In addition to the Atlantic Salmon, there is a population of resident Brown Trout. And also some Lake Run Smallmouth Bass in the Salmon River that time of year.
Would anybody be interested in joining me and splitting transportation and lodging costs ?
If so shoot me an e-mail or if you want to chat in person I'll be at the Beertie tonight.
Tight Lines
