I worked at a fly shop in Seattle when I was growing up and did a ton of fishing all over Washington. The East Cascades should be fine, but depending when you go in the Spring, snow melt can be an issue. The rivers can get more cloudy as the day progresses. The nice thing about those rivers East of the Cascades is that they don't have lots of trees on the banks like back here and on the West side of the Cascades so you can get...

Guy and I had a great day on the Chesapeake today with Capt Tom Hughes. We left out of Sandy Point at dawn. The weather was nice and we caught dozens of small stripers. We fished sinking lines and small Clousers.

Personally, I enjoy the Gunpowder river. The browns there are on the smaller scale and are not easily convinced, which can provide for a very challenging yet rewarding experience since the fish are wild. There's alot of water to fish and ground to cover so if on a particular day you feel the water is too "pressured" you can always find a spot away from other anglers if you're up for it. Most times I've fished...

Nice! I caught my first fly rod fish at GP as well with Rob....just over a year ago now I believe. I've only gone back once, and just got a needlefish and something else....don't remember. So GP is always a neat spot to me, if for no other reason. Most of the success I've had since then I can attribute to a really great deal I made with Satan several months ago. Well, he said he was Satan anyway....

That's a lot of firsts, congrats on the milestone! Two years ago about this time I did the same. I've had luck in the past at night on those olive over white clousers tied with a fair amount of copper flash. If there's anything I've learned, don't be afraid of going BIG when fishing for stripers. Even the little guys will absolutely slam a 3.5 or 4" clouser and there's a better chance of moving the big guys if...

WD-40 is a penetrant and lubricant that displaces water - WD stands for Water Displacement.
