Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Suggestions for a Fly Fishing Weekend Getaway for 2?

I can't claim any knowledge of the lodging up there, but the fishing on the Yellow Breeches is good year round. I held down Walker's for a few hours Saturday morning while I worked out a few early season kinks.  Had a few hits but brought none to shore.  The guys on the boats seemed to be faring well around 9-10am or so.  One guy on spin just downstream of the point had a dozen+ to hand in a few hours, looked to be all the typical sized hickories.  A guy on fly just up from the point had a few as well.  I was not...

Ed, I live on the Shenandoah and just got a skagit line for my 6wt switch rod. I'm thinking the same thing about using this for smallmouth. I can't impart much knowledge, but I did just build a 5wt switch over the winter with the primary purpose of swinging for shad and smallies.  For me it's a tough balance on long rods when trying to keep them heavy enough to cast the bigger bass flies, yet light enough to keep it interesting once you get one on.  I'll enjoy the new challenge figuring this one out.  I also fish from an inflatable yak in the warmer...
