{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Saturday Fishing - Potomac River
Fairfax's Riverbend Regional Park is nice and wadeable, I was there for the first time this past Saturday acquainting a friend with spin fishing for bass - we only caught one smallie, but that's okay since we were mostly into shooting the breeze until noon time. That day, Little Falls gage was about 3.6 and dropping, water temp mid 80s and Point of Rocks was 2.5 and dropping too. As of right now the gage height at both...

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Saturday Fishing - Potomac River
Hi! I'm planning to take my girlfriend out for fly fishing on Saturday. I don't have a float, so we'll be fishing from the shoreline. Can someone please provide advice on locations and flies that would help make this more memorable than my last trip? I'm still learning, and for now, she would like to as well!Thank you!Philip -- http://www.tpfr.org --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google...

sorry, got the link wrong - www.fishingcommunity.org Thanks for the correction. Not familiar with Massanutten, but if you are trying to tie up a bunch of flies beforehand, check out the website for Harry Murrays Fly Shop. He does regular stream reports, and lets you know what is fishing well. Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Massanutten Guide Recommendations
I would recommend an outfitter rather than an individual guide. If you're floating the river, you'll have to be on two separate rafts. It'll be easiest to coordinate the group through one of those places rather than two individual guides. I'd personally recommend Albemarle Angler (read my review here). Mossy Creek Fly Shop and Murray's Fly shop both also operate in the region. I haven't used Mossy Creek, but I have used Murray's....
{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} PM on CNN
An article usually reserved for the pages of moldychum found it's way onto CNN.com yesterday. It is one of the biggest issues of our sport that could not only catastrophically affect a fragile ecosystem, it could also set a precarious precedent for similar actions in the future. It's good to see this published on the front page, even if buried in an Opinion section. Press is press.http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/29/opinion/begala-salmon-pebble-mine/index.html?hpt=hp_t4...

Call Mossy Creek Gly Shop in Harrisonburg. Colby and Brian Trow know that area very well. I've personally seen them work on several occasions. They will get you on fish and you will have a great time. Both are very knowledgeable and great guys.

{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Dirt Bike Fly Fishing
I usually fish the Yampa River near Steamboat Springs in Colorado, I would usually hike into my spot and hike all the way out, two years ago I saw some kids riding their ATV through the trail and fishing, they had all their gear and food on the ATV racks and their travel time was 1/10 th my time. So I pulled my 94' KTM 300 dirt bike out of the garage and made her trail ready again- the first test was the N.C. Fly Fishing trail,...
{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: SNP stream report
It was funny, my girlfriend was walking just ahead of me, and all of a sudden jumped off the trail and yelped. There was a rather large garter snake, which I let strike my boot as I explained it wasn't dangerous. Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: SNP stream report
Brookies in my opinion are so hungry they eat anything. as long as you dont spook them first. its taken me many years to finally catch the 9-11 inch brookies consistently. they are very easy to spook with bad casts, large leaders and just being clumsy in the water. {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Redfish -- puppy picture
They are exciting fish. Charleston SC can have some great Red fishing, especially in the fall when they school up. We had a day where the wind was reasonable, the water clear, and the fish cooperative, and it was a blast - all in site of downtown Charleston. Fish usually run bigger in the fall - 7-11 pounds. In a lot of cases you don't need weighted flies - and it can help minimize the spook factor...
